Noob question trying to get a web page working using HTML, CSS and JS ?

I found this page:

And want to use

on shared hosting website with hostgator.

I copied the html to a file called index.htm
the css text as a file called index.css
and the js text as a file called index.js

When I go to the website, I get a blank page.  If I show source, I DO see the HTML, so the code is there.

But don't know what I am doing wrong / what I need to do (I really don't know web design. My experience is really front page from YEARS ago : )

Are you referencing the CSS and index.js files in your HTML? CodePen automates this so you have to add it manually when you move the code offsite, e.g. for the CSS:

<link rel="stylesheet" href="index.css">

Open in new window

and the javascript:

<script src="index.js"></script>

Open in new window

Typically the CSS link tag goes in the header, and the script at the end of the body.
DAMN!!!!  It must be nice knowing what you are doing : )  rather than like me farting around just cutting and pasting.
