Any recommendations for the best type of body cam to buy?

I'd like to purchase a Video camera (GoPro or similar) that is easy to wear either on a cap or chest, but there is so much available when doing a google search that it's difficult to decide what's good and what's not.

Does anyone have any experience with this and can recommend a unit from personal experience?

Ideally, the unit I'm looking for wouldn't be too obtrusive and quick to put on when needed.

Thanks.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes, I've already noted there is plenty to choose from with a google search, but that's the problem - too many choices :)

Was more hoping for recommendations from people who may have tried solutions and can recommend them from personal experience. My preference would be something worn on a Cap or similar.

Anyone else have any experience with this type of gadget?

From experience, the GoPro knockoffs are not worth the money. I had one that constantly lost data. Stick with the GoPro.

Thanks, Scott, that useful to know. I always prefer to pay a bit extra if it means better reliability. Useless having a cam that will lose data.

I've got my eye on the Hero7 Black because of the 8x Slo-Mo and HyperSmooth Video Stabilization. GoPro has some great accessories too, but damn that is one expensive little unit. May have to lower my expectations and come down to earth a little ;)

That is the issue with prosumer.  Cheap for the pro, expensive for the consumer.

Thanks for sharing your personal experiences Scott. Your answer confirmed my initial thoughts to stick with a genuine GoPro unit, despite the additional cost, so much appreciated.
