On starting my PC today Outlook 2010 will not open and a message is displayed saying I do not have  permission to access the file Outlook.pst.

Everything was fine when I shut down my system yesterday and I had no message on startup today that windows updates were being installed.

1) go tu run    tyepe  outlook /safe   (it'll open in safe mode ) after complete open check... whether its woking fine or not..if yes close it and reopen in normal mode.

2) go to outlook installation path there is a tool u'll find repair pst ... use that too and repair the PST file it may fix.

OK but my greater concern is what changed on startup in addition when closing SQL Server Management Studio I get a message that my settings cannot be updated.

Commented:
if you wnat to check what changed... startupmenu - settings - windows update -view installed updates- then check the recent installed updates double ckicl it'll show the details about that update.

The last completed update was 12/09/2018 but there is nothing listed regarding Outlook.

In any event the problem is that read-only permission is set on my c:\users\ folder so how could that have changed from yesterday.

Commented:
