distribution group, exchange

i have a distribution group called sales group and another distribution group called marketing.

under sales mail universal distribution group we have- sales@domain.com
under marketing universal distribution group we have marketing @domain.com and marketing1 @domain.com

can we add the marketing email addresses both of them under sales distribution group

i dont want to remove marketing email addresses under marketing group.

we have on premise AD and is synced through AAD sync to office 365 as these distribution groups are in office 365 portal.

i tried to add in office 365 directly but it threw error saying these email addresses already exist.

You cannot have the same email address assigned to multiple objects, if that's what you mean.

But you can add the marketing distribution group to the sales distribution group, and then move the email addresses from marketing to sales.

ok so same email address cant be used in different distribution groups but if I move the marketing to sales DL, then wont the email addresses be moved along with it, why will I be to do it manually?

If you embed the existing marketing group into the sales group, that does not automatically modify the email addresses of the sales group.

we dont want to remove sales group email address yes but if we nest marketing group under sales group

so if I nest marketing group under sales group , any emails coming to marketing group will also come to sales group as well.

only if you promote the email addresses to the sales group.

That group had email address

Ok if I understand correctly you want to have all emails to the sales team (group) also sent to marketing team (group) and vice versa!

If that is correct you should instead create a rule on your server If not you might create a loop!.  Also, think about deploying a more general Group name with its own email that must be addressed by any of the sales or marketing teams.  Like this both previous teams can remain receiving their own focused/pertained emails and only the "General" ones will be received by both teams and handled accordingly.

Hope that helps!... if I understood!!! :-)
