Android phone says phone storage is full

How do I fix this ?

I’m an Apple person. I think it is corrupted or something because I am not seeing any programs or images etc taking up space.

It supposed to have lots of free space

You can try clearing app cache. That would save some space. Check and see if you have lot of images and videos. People sending stuff in WhatsApp would also take lot of space. If you had recent upgrades, that would leave lot of temp stuff in the phone. These are things to check out. How much is the phone storage?

Check this

Nothing taking up space but it says space full

Is it corrupted ?

I still don't think there is any corruption. 8gb is really low for later versions of Android. What version is it running? Did you have any version upgrade recently? That is known to eat up space

Says there is a software update but need to free up space
Ravindran GopinathanCommented:
If you are using clean master, probably it took care of cleaning app cache already. I don't think you have any option other than trying a factory reset. 8gb is really low space. You will always run into this issue. Android itself can take between 1 to 4 gb

It's running Android 6.0.1

Someone told me Android is taking up all the space
Ravindran GopinathanCommented:
It could be very well the case. But I don't think Android takes up that much space. I have seen max of 4GB, not more than that. If Android is indeed taking up space, then probably some old version temp files and so on. Something that did not clear properly during previous upgrade. The best option might be to perform a factory reset. Does your phone have an option to use external SD card? These external memory cards are so cheap and you can put one and resolve this problem once and for all!
