I am not sure about Comcast, but your "From" Address can be different than your userid Address. Make sure IMAP does not think you are relaying email.
when I am setting from-address of different email domain
For obvious reasons, the Comcast MTA will not allow spoofing a From address from a different domain. It is not an open relay nor do they want to encourage spam.
If you want to send using a From address other than Comcast, you will have to (a) sign up with an SMTP relay such as SMTP2Go or (b) send through the From domain's MTA.

POP3 allows you to have a display email address while using the correct email address for sending. That may be an Outlook thing.
If IMAP does not have this capability, then it is seeing your email address (first post) as an attempt to relay.

smtp.charter-business.net was allowing to send email which has from email for eg. smandola@allied-dev.com but comcast Smtp.office365.com is not allowing.

There error message above isn't a well formed SMTP banner. I know because I've been warming up a large list of Comcast recipients, to avoid throttling.
What's expected is a correctly formed SMTP response banner similar to...
You may have to dig around in your logs to find + post this.
Post your actual SMTP banner response that generated the error + a copy of the full message you sent, including all headers.
Likely someone will be able to quickly see the problem.

They're different companies. They have different policies. And if you're trying to send through "office365.com" -- that is not a Comcast domain; it's Microsoft and Microsoft has (of necessity) exceedingly tough spam policies.

This has no correlation to Comcast, as Charter is not Comcast.
There's never any correlation between any two Email Provider's sending/receiving rules. Each email Provider has their own rules.
Tip: For sending email which is highly deliverable, setup a MailGun account. First 10K emails/month sent are free with MailGun.
