Migrate WhatsApp account

Hi
I have a situation. I had to change, for e new android mobile (Samsung S9) the base email address and Gmail account. I have managed to migrate to the new account all contacts and everything is perfect, except that, because its a novel account, I have lost the messages on WhastApp...

How can I migrate my old messages to the new account?

You need to restore everything in WhatsApp from your backups. Typically WhatsApp backups are taken locally and/or in Google Drive. I think default frequency is weekly. When you open whatsapp for the first time and go through setup process, it would ask if you want to restore from backups. You can use that and go through the process of restoration. Below you will find the exact process to do so.

Ok! I did it (the backup part) but went into a bit of trouble; it asked me if I wanted the images/videos, etc of the messages and I told "yes" so it generated a ZIP and then, in an instant zipped the selected conversation yielding only 149 K and no images.... what am I wrongdoing?

Typically messages are backed up first. Images and stuff like that are backed up in the background and will take a while. Do you see anything in the notification bar about WhatsApp backup running? Depending on the volume of media you have, backups can run for a long time. If it's local backup, should be a little faster though.
