How do I reset a Sharp MX-3640 to factory defaults
Hi all,
I was trying to set up a used Sharp MX-3640n multifunction copier / printer / scanner that was purchased from a company that went out of business. Unfortunately, I need admin access to change the configuration and the default password 'admin' does not work. I can access the built-in browser with no problem.
I can't seem to find how to reset this machine to factory defaults so that I can log in and have access to all of the admin functions.

I see that we saw a similar problem 7 years back.

It appears from some brief goofling that the "# * C *" key sequence also works on the MX3640. Whether the rest of the keystrokes will work on a 3640 or not, I don't know. You would need the full service manual, or perhaps the screens will give some guidance. So if you feel bold ... try it and see, as it is surely useless in the state it is in now and it can't get much worse.

Dr.Klahn, I saw that one too, but it was for a different model so I read the manual and it was in there :-)

You stipulated factory reset, formatting the hard drive won't achieve that because this is a SoC setup, thus the original configuration settings will still be there.
