Quick print option in ribbon prints multiple copies of document

a customer called to say their printer has a defect.

they use MS Word/Excel a lot.  Whenever they use the Quick Print button on top of their screen, the customers gets multiple copies printed out of the document that is currently opened. Some other documents seem to get printed 2 times, other documents are printed up to !50! times.

there's no consistency in the number of documents printed the use quick print generate. However the number stays the same, for the same document.
i can not seem to find the settings for this.

when the customer does CTRL + P and the prints, the SAME document to the SAME printerdriver they get just one copy.
off course, the printer is not the problem, using other software on the same pc, using the same printer driver does not generate the same problem.

there must be something set that is stored behind the quick print button

I would try replacing the printer driver (even though CTRL-P works).

Remove the Printer (Devices and Printers).
Remove the Driver (Printer server management).
Clear the print spooler:

Net Stop Spooler
Del c:\windows\system32\spool\printers\*
Net Start Spooler.

Wait 2 or 3 minutes.

Restart the computer and install the printer again and test.
Sorry if you've already thought of this, but have you confirmed that the Quick Print button isn't being clicked multiple times by your client because they're being impatient about waiting for the spooling before the printer starts printing?

Also, when the Quick Print button is pressed, does the Printer box pop up so that the number of copies to be printed can be confirmed and manually selected, or does the print job go straight to the printer?

Other than those two things, I'm with John on this one. Try completely removing and replacing the printer drivers with the latest version available from the printer manufacturer's website. I know you said it works fine with other software on the machine, but I still think it's worth a shot.

@Andrew, upon diagnosing the problem, it was me hitting the quick print button, so im sure  ;-)
there is no pop up box, it just straight up starts printing, which is the idea i guess

@John, i might try that, seems a bit redundant to me.
