Changes to provision of Java.

What will be the implications / effects of Oracle charging for Java from 2019 for developers, business, enthusiasts and other users?

Whoever makes money  (commercial use) out of it, will have higher costs and will need additional processes (such as automated Asset Management) in order to be able to estimate the costs for next year.
Only commercial usage/users will be affected. All others remain as they are (free of charge)

This website “makes money” out of Java, so would this qualify as commercial use do you think? Reading the Oracle website I can’t really see where they draw the line.
Yes, this website does qualify.

Until today, there has been a lot of software -not only java- that charge only for the commercial use of their product. If you use it for business - profit then you just qualify ;-)

Thanks George.
There will be no effects, as long as you go with Open JDK. In the company I work for, we have already started shifting to Open Jdk11.
Thnx girionis.
