HP G6 server vmware upgrade

I have several HP G6 servers which have vmware 5.5 installed on them. I need to upgrade the vmware hosts to new version, and I was wondering which one should I use. Should I try with 6.0 or 6.5. I know that none of the versions are supported with this G6 servers but I need to upgrade them because version of vmware 5.5 is out of support. Also what can you recommend me, should I use the customised ISO from HP or to go with vmware image. Does anyone of you have problems with G6 with 6.0 or 6.5 version of vmware.

5.5 is end of general support so you wanted to upgrade however you are missing logic that if the hardware is also not in the VMware compatibility guide, then that is also not supported.

It is better you have to check on bringing new hardware and migrate workloads..

Consider this way, during upgrade if your ESXi host goes to PSOD or upgrade failure.. then you might need to do fresh install which is again not a good way to progress further.

1. Grab new hardware and migrate workloads to that
2. Try to get extended support if available to 5.5 until you get the new hardware to avail support.
Your servers are end of life and not certified for ESXi for use with 6.x.

They may work, or may not but VMware Support will not support them if they give you issues!

HP G6 will run esx 6.0, but 6.5 will not work. running esx
but it's not supported in the support matrix of esxi 6.x

I  tried with ESXi 6.0, HP customised  ISO and also with pure vmware image. Installation went successful, but when host reboots after installation PSOD is triggered. I tried with different versions of 6.0. Could you help me how to fix this issue.
Your HOST is not compatible!

You could try making sure that ALL HOST firmware is up to date...

This also could be the reason, it's not made the Certification List!
Does anyone of you have problems with G6 with 6.0 or 6.5 version of vmware.

i had issues running 6.0 in a test environment on G6 and recently recycled the hardware
no sense keeping them as they won't work with modern operating systems

Also what can you recommend me, should I use the customised ISO from HP or to go with vmware image.

buy a Gen10 and install the 6.7 U1 custom HP iso
