Hardware firewalls that can be placed behind AT&T BGW210-700 DSL modem

What kind of hardware firewalls can be placed behind an AT&T BGW210-700 DSL modem?

To do what you want, you need to put the AT&T DSL Modem in Bridged Mode. The ISP can do this. Once done, you can put any router behind the Modem. Until that is done, a router is not of much use.

I have had my DSL provider and Cable provide set up modems in Bridged Mode and then used Cisco RVxx and Juniper routers behind them.

What type of firewall are you looking at? Or do you not have any recommendations?

For a cost effective route, the Netgate pfSense is a good item. I build my firewalls with something like a Protecli device or a VM if you have one available somewhere with a loaded pfSense on it. Its free and generally easy to use.

ASKER

I already have a SonicWALL TZ600 firewall. Is this firewall fully compatible?

I think the Sonic Wall has VPN capability and needs the Modem in Bridged Mode. That is in any event the best way to go for modems.
