maximum memory available in Excel 2016 64bit

Hi,
What is maximum memory that Excel 2016 64 bit version can handle. I was told it was 4GB
and find that to be true as my workbooks struggle when 3GB+ is loaded into memory
even when formulas are designed to work efficiently.
I can often use in excess of 150,000 rows and 500 columns with a third of these columns
having formulas some being complex.
In addition these large files still take 1-2 minutes to load.
My pc is not the problem as it comprises 64GB Ram and uses an i9 16 core processor
with a 1TB SSD
Thanks
Ian

The MS article mentioned below states the following.
The following options can help improve performance in Excel 2013/2016:

Excel users who regularly work with large, complex Excel worksheets may benefit from using the 64-bit edition of Office 2013 because 64-bit editions of Windows-based applications can address up to 8 terabytes (TB) of memory. Learn more about 64-bit editions of Office 2013.

why then does 2016 struggle with 4gb in memory when 2013 can have up to 7 terabytes ? seems a vast difference

Are you absolutely sure that this is the 64-bit version of Office?  Best to confirm that before going ahead.

Regarding formulae executing slowly on a 16-core system, for some applications Office must execute single-threaded to preserve data integrity.  In such cases no amount of extra cores will improve execution speed.  Bring up the Task Manager when your application is running and see how many cores are actually in use.
I've tried all those Dr Klahn, I may have to switch to writing code in 'R' or similar.
Excel is just not powerful enough to cope with more than 4-6GB in memory
