Saving in Word 2016 jumps me up to Top of Document?

While working on a "40-Page" Microsoft Word 2016 documents, I will be on Page 25, for example, and click Save - Word will Save but then move my cursor up to the Top of Page 1. I can scroll back down to Page 20, for example, click Save again, and again, will move me up to the Top of Page 1. Not sure why it is continuously moving my cursor up to the Top of the Document when I Save?

Never heard of that before. Can you try saving by using Ctrl-S instead of clicking the save icon. Does it still do it then or only when saving by mouse?
Further to my last, I've done a little research on this issue and it seems to be a common problem. I do a lot of work in Word so curious that this is the first time I've heard about it :) Anyway...

I've read that it can sometimes occur if editing a document in "Compatability" mode. Is that the case for you? If so, try "Save As" rather than clicking save to see if that cures the problem.

Other causes could be add-ins so try running Word without add-ins and see if that helps.

Windows Key + R
Type winword /a
Hit Enter key

If it does, then it will be an add-in that's causing the problem, so you'll just need to identify which one by disabling all, and then turning on one at a time until you can reproduce the behavior to find the problematic one.

In Microsoft Word, click File > Options > Add-ins

If running word with the /a switch doesn't help, check this Microsoft Troubleshooting Article for additional troubleshooting steps and suggestions.

The last thing I'd suggest is to run a Repair on Microsoft Office. In Windows 10;

Windows Key - Type Apps & features
Click the result
Scroll down to Microsoft Office and click it - select Modify
Perform a Repair per the prompt

I hope that's helpful.

I don't encounter this issue with Word in my Office 365 (v1809; build 10827.20181).

However, if/when this happens, you can press Shift-F5 to be returned to the last edit point.

I appreciate your responses - but due to our strict firm company wide settings in Word, I can't change our Word. I more or less was looking for a setting that was accidentally enabled? Someone in my firm sent me their 40 page document, all filled in, and he told me that when he saves, it ALWAYS jumps up to the Top of Page 1. :) And its bugging me that I cannot find a rhyme or reason. I attempted copying and pasting into a new Word document and unfortunately continues the same "jump to Top Page " action probably because of the same format. Seems odd. If I save while on Page 22, and the cursor is on Page 22, after saving, it should keep me on Page 22.

There is no "setting" that is designed to cause (or not cause) this behavior in Microsoft Word. Without having access to changing the settings in Word, you are highly restricted in being able to troubleshoot issues. Suggest you involve your companies IT department to help with this issue, or perhaps ask them to give you appropriate access so that you can investigate it properly?
Agree with Andrew; Word doesn't have a setting to enable that.

Is it possible the user has a macro to autorun on save? I would check that if Save works as expected elsewhere in your organization.
