My Office?

What has M$ done to ‘improve’ office now?
Purchased a new win 10 pro laptop with office 2016 home & business (from Dell). Now they’re not sending product keys with office?!? Called Dell to ask where it was & was told they needed to connect to laptop to activate (WTF?). When trying to activate over the internet, I get the message that it’s already been activated the maximum number of times & had to go through the phone activation! At some point in all this, it kept wanting me to use a Microsoft account (user does not have one!) & finally used my account I had set up for my volume licensing! Joined to domain, tried setting up outlook & see I’ve got no icons for office programs in start menu, but a ‘My Office’ icon. Open that, see all my office programs (under a office 365 programs) & can’t open any of them! I bought Office 2016 NOT 365 - how can I get rid of this 365 & get my 2016 back?!?

Home and Business is normally a subscription product activated with your Microsoft Account. I have it here working.

If you do not want this, uninstall it completely and install the version of Office you want. That works as well.

Last time I bought home & business 2016, it came with a little card with download link & product key - if I uninstall & reinstall, where do I get my key?

If you do not wish to use a Microsoft Account, call Dell Licensing Support or Microsoft Licensing Support. It does have a KEY so one of these two parties above can give it to you.

Going on 45 minute with dell tech support so far, the guy is telling me enter any email address to activate, never mind that right underneath that it says 'use a product key instead', but apparently understanding English isn't a job prerequisite on their end. Ok, I'll play along & now it's wanting users password?!? WTF would Microsoft need my users domain password for?!? I have a friend who got out of IT completely & is an insurance adjuster. MADD enough money last year to pay for a new house. Climbing around on roofs is starting to look more appealing than this stuff!

Uninstall Office and install a business version. That is your best solution

Thanks to all!
With all the pirating, I'm guessing M$ is doing everything they can to prevent it, sometimes at the expense of their users! I wonder if the home & business version is available & competitively priced via volume licensing? That may be an easier way to go!
Major OEM's are installing the Office App which is IMHO garbage
to remove it

run powershell as an admin
Get-AppxPackage *officehub* | Remove-AppxPackage

Wait for the process to complete.
Restart your computer it will be gone.
