Group policy to prevent Wi-Fi & cellular connections on client computers
What are the steps to create a Server 2016 Group policy to prevent Wi-Fi & cellular connections on Windows client computers?
I need to prevent all client computers from being able to establish internet connections using Wi-Fi or cellular connections using either the computer's built-in hardware or a peripheral device that can be plugged into the computer's system board or connected with USB.

Here are some options that I use. Keep in mind this if you allow some access to Wifi it allows access to any WiFi, at least that has been my expeirence.
- If the user does not have local admin privileges, they will not be able to install the necessary software for a USB based WiFi device or mobile Internet
- For the hardware installed devices, I would recommend you disable them in the BIOS and lock the BIOS with a password

How can this be done with group policy?
We have a strict policy of not allowing internet access on any of the computers on our restricted network.
There is a helpdesk group that has administrator rights to these workstations and we need to be sure that they will not be able to install or enable any Wi-Fi or cellular devices to gain internet access.

Sorry but if you give IT Staff local admin access they have control to manage all settings on the local computer.
Depending on the size of your network, you may be better served manually disabling the hardware in the BIOS and locking it.

You can use group policy to disable the WLAN Autoconfig service, but if someone has admin rights they could just enable it back and get on.

Jenaraj Jen,
Is there a different registry key that I need to edit or add to disable cellular cards on Windows 10 computers?

Hey IT Guy,
sorry, I don't know about that as we don't use them.
Hope the other option was useful.
Thanks
