Why isn't a HP ProBook 4540s detecting a wireless network when it is seeing others?

I have an issue where a HP ProBook 4540s cant see the wireless network. It picks up other nearby networks and all other devices can see the wireless network and connect. The network is not hidden and the laptop has the most up to date drivers. The laptop used to see and connect to the wireless network and nothing has changed in the setup.

usually when i have unexplained wireless issues i usually uninstall the wireless driver so it can re install it on next reboot. this will reset the device and driver settings,

I have tried this and that has not resolved the issue, I have also tried the windows 10 network reset tool which hast resolved the issue
Experts, please remember that this laptop works with other wireless networks.

So if you look at your list of known networks, it isn't there any more? If it still is, remove it.

Is there anything different about this network compared to others? Hidden SSID?

Can you find out what kind of wireless access point it is? Perhaps there is some sort of incompatibility with it and your laptop.
possible a new network ssid has popped up and users the same channel which can cause dome issues. have you trued to add this network manually to see what happens

The network did show in known devices but I have tried forgetting the network rebooting but this didn't help.

The SSID is not hidden I have tried adding the connection manually and this did not help.

The router is a zyxel I am unsure on the exact model at this time, But the network used to work so I wouldn't think it is incompatible. Also there are other laptops which are the same make and model and don't have the issue.
Try TCP/IP Reset and DNS Flush.

Open cmd.exe with Run as Administrator
Then: netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
Then: ipconfig /flushdns

Then restart the computer and test.
Check on the router itself, and see if there are any sort of settings related to filtering or security in place. Also, you could try checking to see if there are any policies that exist on that laptop which might be filtering out that one particular network.

I have tried running those commands and rebooting, Still the same issue.

The laptop has had a complete network reset so I don't think there would be any policies on there. Where can I check this?

I have signed into the router and it is the default setup there has been no extra security added and no filters setup.

Here is the command to run to see blocked networks (if it was done via Windows):
netsh wlan show filters permission=block

Here's a link detailing more on blocking and allowing wireless networks via this method: https://mywindowshub.com/add-remove-wireless-network-allowed-blocked-filter-list-windows-10/
It works on other networks, so there may be an incompatibility between this machine and the router itself. That has happened before.
Does that one laptop have a different wireless card than the others? Don't focus too much on model of the laptop.

I have checked the other laptops and there are others with the same network adaptor which aren't having the issue I have not managed to run the command the below command yet, Will try shortly.

netsh wlan show filters permission=block

I have ran the command and it comes back <NONE>
Maybe try correcting the operating system with DISM.

dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
sorry for this simple question but have you put the laptop right next to the router and see if it can see it
Is anything different with that laptop in comparison to the others? Even BIOS version? Or installed update of Windows 10?
Have you tried connecting the laptop in safemode with networking? If it connects that could indicate some kind of software conflict, potentially malware.

It's been established that:

* This laptop used to connect to this access point.
* Other devices with that network adapter can connect to this access point.
* This laptop doesn't have any issues connecting to other access points of the same type.
* Drivers seem clean.

Logically I'm having a hard time figuring out what could be causing this one.

FYI just because the adapter is the same doesn't mean the hardware is the same. They could have very different antennas for example or one of the antenna connections could be broken.

The following is unlikely but theoretically possible: The router and laptop operate on 2.4ghz and 5ghz BUT one of those is broken on the router (allowing the other laptops to still connect to this router) and the other channel is broken on the laptop (allowing it to connect to other routers but not this one).
on most routers you can block various mac addresses via wireless .. check your router.
i agree with a previous comment could be bios or firmware of the wireless card maybe needs upgrading

So most likely some sort of incompatibility with the laptop and WPA2 on this particular WAP. Interesting. Thanks for sharing the solution.
