What reasons would a user of a Lenovo Flex 4-1480 have to continually unplug the battery and replug in the battery to get the laptop to power on?

In a public school there are a number of Lenovo Flex 4 1480 Ideapads in which computers will cease powering on until the back of the computer is removed and the battery unplugged.  After waiting for 30 seconds and plugging the computer back in the computer will work.  Would the problem be a battery, an update from Lenovo, or motherboard?
