How can I change the date range without having to apply one of the built-in templates?

MS Publisher 2013  - I have a calendar I created because, well, all the built-in templates suck, as far as a simple, elegant and clean calendar. I would like to change the date range for the new year, but the only way I can find it is to use the "Change  Template" feature, which does not retain your format but rather forces you to impose one of the built-in templates. We are still  several months away from Office 2016 so I am stuck with 2013. Any ideas on how I can change the date range without having to change the format?
