Compression on IIS10

I have installed IIS compression on windows server 16, IIS 10. But nothing seems to happen.
Checks are enabled for dynamic and static compression. It's a default installation, no changes are made to any configuration of webconfig file.

Are images compressed by default or should I make changes to a config file to accomplish this?

is there a way to check if compression is working properly?
