Wrong picture of person in Android S9+ Contacts list?

Hi Experts,

I recently consolidated a number of contacts that were duplicated in my contacts list on my Android S9+ mobile phone.

Now I've noticed that a lot of the consolidated contacts have the wrong avatar of the persons face, in many cases, the avatar on the contact is of a totally different person than who the contact in my phone really is.

Can anyone explain the best way to fix this so that the pictures on the contacts are correct? Please include step by step instructions if possible as I'm relatively new to Android phones, being an Iphone user for many years.

Hi Thomas,

What to do depends on both how they were combined and how many.

I got there by clicking the three dots in the "Contacts" screen, and then tapping "Manage Contacts" and then "Merge Contacts". It gave me a list of contacts with the same numbers and I just tapped the circles of all of them. Perhaps that's where I went wrong?

On android
Open contacts
Tap the contact to look at
Tap the 3 dots in the upper righthand corner
Tap manage linked contacts
Tap the unlink link next to the incorrect contact and save

That fixed it, though it was a pain in the proverbial because I have so many contacts! lol

I don't own an S9, I use an S8

Steps were identical.
