asked on

monitors seperation

Looking for a bit of advice guys.. I have a asus ZX270 MB, i7 processor all is running great.  I am using 2 monitors 1-hdmi and 1-display port, I have no graphics card installed. I want to be able to run, say a video on the tv and  work on the pc on the monitor.  since I only have one graphics source I don't think I can do it.  But the question is this-  I have a usb c port could I use this to stream to the tv while running the monitor from the display port.  My own feeling is no, since there is still only one source but I am no expert so I thought I would ask you guys if this is possible.

Two different things on two different monitors, so you do need a graphics card capable of two monitor outputs.

thank you john as I said I did think this  myself but it is good to get a simple clean answer so I don't have  mess about with something that is not fixable
You need to get a dual Graphics card that fits your ASUS motherboard. You cannot get two separate display with a single on board graphics device.
any compatible graphics card will be ok I assume I can run 1 from board and 1 from card
Yes, I think so. Any compatible card, two outputs (2 VGA, or 2 HDMI for 2 monitors) and you are good to go. You do need separate outputs. So a card with one output will supplant (disable) the on board card leaving you no farther ahead.
oh I see . once I fit the card the other output from the processor will be disabled so the card will take over all graphics and so I will need 2 outs on the card to run both devices from there.    got you thanks john
