Windows Updates Change Intentional Settings for File Sharing
We have dozens of Windows 10 Pro workstations. Some of them are sharing files in an "open" manner on a peer-to-peer network; i.e. the files are readily accessible on the network. Others are more tightly secured.
But the "open" ones keep getting changed by Windows updates.
Specifically, access to Public folders is turned OFF AND password protected sharing is turned ON.
It's not hard to fix but it's an unwarranted nuisance.
How can we nail these two settings down once and for all?
Should we resort to a Windows Task Scheduler task to run a batch file or script each night?

John: How is it that my description was missed? I'm sorry for that. I guess all I have to do is change the scheduled script:
from:
But then, that's what I was wanting to avoid - it's a last resort.
from:
change to Password protected sharing = ONto:
change to Password protected sharing = OFF

Please do not change Password to OFF as that will compromise machine / operating system security.
Change it to ON and then adapt networking to fit (home group = public folders now gone).

John: What did you mean by: (home group = public folders now gone)
I still see Users\Public....etc.
I still see Users\Public....etc.
Home Group uses Public Folders and Home Group is gone in Windows 10 starting V1803. Other public folders will still be there

Thank you!
So yes, run a script or schedule to change to Password protected sharing = ON for all those machines that have not yet changed.
