MOPUser used Ask the Experts™
Hi All

I'm hoping someone can help me with the following Word 2016 settings.

I want to be able to change the Smart cut and paste settings within Word 2016 via a group policy.  I cant see the settings I'm looking for within GP editor and also cant spot where the registry setting sit.

I've attached a screen shot of the setting I want to untick. Any ideas how I could change this.

Many thanks

Can you share the screenshot? I can't see anything attached.

Hi Ardhendu

Sorry about that, I've added the screen shot now.

Many thanks

In Windows registry, here are the values for Cut, Copy and Paste options for Word 2016. Have you checked that?

Path - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Word\Options

"Pasting within the same document": PasteFormattingWithin
"Pasting between documents": PasteFormattingTwoDocumentsNoStyles
"Pasting between documents when style definitions conflict": PasteFormattingTwoDocumentsWithStyles
"Pasting from other programs": PasteFormattingOtherApp

For each option, the DWORD values are:

Keep Source Formatting: 0
Merge Formatting: 1
Keep Text Only: 2
Use Destination Styles: 3

Does this help?

Thanks Ardhendu
