VMWare ESXi Manged paths

Hi Experts,

We have 2 ESXi identical hardware 6.0 hosts directly attached to a Powervault Md3400 .On 1 host we have 2 active paths, 1 active and 1 active with (I/O) and have a multipathing policy  VMW_SATP_ALUA.

The 2nd host I see 2 active paths and neither one has an active (I/O) path nor does it have a multipathiing policy available to select on the drop down and Storage type is blank.

Is there an option to enable multipathing on Esxi 6.0? I dod not see an option in th emodulard disk store manager on the Storage Array? and did not enable any specific settings on the host that displays the paths corrently.

Thanks

Hi Sebastian,

On the troubled host there is no policy at all or options to select. Actually on the properties tab of the storage device it is grayed out. On the storage adopter on the host shows 2 active paths are listed, but no target and no device name.

I wonder if this host failed over to the passive raid controller and that  raid controller is not active or not working correctly for this host? Is there a way to only fail over  or fail back the 1 host that does not see the storage to it's original raid controller or would it fail both hosts back?

When i physically look at the back of the MD3400 all link lights and cabling look ok
Thanks

No orange lights at all. Yes the 2 hosts are identical.

When i look at the datastores on Vsphere and  highlight the datastore the property tab is greyed out on both the local datastore and storage datastore, but i can right click and browse them both.

The SAS adatoper shows 2 active paths, 0 target and 0 devices.
