Disabling the microphone in a Logitech USB webcam

I've installed a Logitech Webcam C510 USB device on my Windows 7 desktop.  I would like to disable the built-in microphone, but no software came with the webcam.  In Windows Device Manager, the device appears under Sound and Video Controllers, and I disabled it.  After rebooting, the webcam still works as a video capture device, but I don't know whether the microphone is disabled.  Articles online suggest that the microphone can be selectively disabled with Logitech software, but I don't see any downloads on the Logitech website which appear to offer that option.  Please advise.

disable the device in your sound settings and be done with it. Logitech software will do the same thing.
