If i make a change to the DNS IP's from within the Esxi console on the host, will it cause the host to lose connectivity?
I have a host that is managed by vcenter 6.5u2
If i make a change to the DNS IP's from within the Esxi console on the host, will it cause the host to lose connectivity?
I am asking because, i noticed the host is not pointing to the right DNS servers. And i would like to make the change but am affraid it will cause the host to lose connectivity to Vcenter momentarily as the Esxi host applies the changes.

Changing DNS servers for VMkernel networking on your VMware ESXi Host should not be a problem for the connection between the ESXi Hosts and vCenter.

Dr. Klahn:
I think the question was about changing DNS server settings for VMkernel networking (=outgoing DNS requests from ESXi, for example to connect to update manager), and Connection between vCenter and Hosts (which will use the configured DNS servers configured in vCenter, if Hosts are added with FQDN)
DNS TTL and caching in Internet DNS servers are not relevant for this step

Go ahead and make the change, but do not restart networking!
and it does depend on how you have configured your networking, ESXi only hosts VMs.
if you VMs are using different vSwitch, there will be no outage of networking to VMs.
I have a Port Group called "Server PROD" with 25 VM's and this port group is on vSwitch0 which also has "Management Network" Port Group.
Should i be concerned?
No! DNS change only affects ESXi Host, not the VMs it manages!
