Change Fortigate 60d DNS service

I want to change an ip range's dns-service from default to a policy I created.

current CLI:

set dns-service default

what would the commands be to change?

Can you show a little more of your current config? I don't know what you mean with "ip range" - are you referring to DHCP server service?

If the answer to above is yes, you can only set DNS to default, local (the device's DNS server) or specify. For the latter you need to manually set DNS server IPs. There is nothing like a policy to apply here. Something like (incomplete):
config system dhcp server
   edit 1
      set dns-service specify
      set dns-server1 8.8.8.8
   end
end
