iSeries menu - disable function keys

iSeries menu question - Can I disable the functions keys? I don't want F3/F12 to exit the menu. I want an option selection to be the only way.

Thanks in advance!

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What kind of menus?

OS menus? No, no practical way.

STRSDA/CRTMNU menus? No way I know of to actually disable F3/F12, but you can always call the menu from a CL with a loop in it that redisplays the menu if the user drops out with F3/F12:

TOP:
GO USERMENU1
GOTO TOP

UIM menus?  Yes.  Just don't specify KEYI: tags for F3 and F12 in the KEYL: section.

Full-blown programmer-created application menus (CL/RPG/COBOL program plus DSPF)? Yes.  Just don't enable CA03/CA12 / CF03/CF12 keyword in the DSPF DDS.

Third party menu systems?  You'll have to check with the menu vendor or system documentation.

Hope that helps.
