How do I select multiple messages?

If you wish to select multiple messages at a time, please follow these steps:

Tap the left edge of any message or media in a chat.
Select messages or media by tapping the boxes (you can scroll up and down).
Once you are done selecting, choose the desired action: forward, copy or delete.

The following could also be of help to you:

To delete messages for everyone:

Open WhatsApp and go to the chat containing the message you wish to delete.
Tap and hold the message. Optionally, tap more messages to delete multiple messages at once.
Tap Delete at the top of the screen > Delete for everyone.

So for the steps provided, if there are 50 whatsapp messages to be deleted,
do I tap 50 times (ie once on each message) or just twice (once on the 1st
message, then select the 50th & tap again)?

I can't get the instructions right

> I don't know of a way on the android where you can just tap the first, hold down on a shift and then tap the last
This is what I'm looking for.

Alternatively, I could run a tool from the PC, connect up the phone to select the 1st message, Shift-select on the last but this requires a PC
