Every time I search for store locations or other things that use the zip code for location all the browsers enter a zip code that is not correct (and one I've never lived in). How can I change that. Firefox is my default browser. OS is Windows 10 Pro
I did not find David Favor's contribution so did not rate it. However, the others were very helpful. I used the first link to find the geographic location and it is our county seat. Well, I guess that is close enough. Thanks to both of you for very useful and insightful comments.
This also widely depends on how your company network is configured and where your internet circuit is, case in point a layer 2 network or MPLS could use only single circuit to access the internet or it could use multiple redundant circuits which could be located geographically in other areas of the US. Each one of these would provide their own geotag depending on location.
David,
Your comment finally appeared. It is helpful. I use Duck Duck Go as a search engine and do not login. Hence, I don't have a default zip code. That is very helpful to know and will remember it should I have to use Google.
Windows OS
This topic area includes legacy versions of Windows prior to Windows 2000: Windows 3/3.1, Windows 95 and Windows 98, plus any other Windows-related versions including Windows Mobile.
If you're using Google or most other search engines, what's required is for you to login + then set your default zipcode.
This is the only way around the VPN + mobile NAT'ed address problems which render geo location inaccurate, as Dr. Klahn mentioned above.
