You can test if infrared by covering the Roku. If you can still use the controller then it's wireless.

I don't have the roku, it is a client device. &nbsp;I did not test when I was onsite, as I was unaware Roku made a non infared remote. &nbsp;All of mine are infared and do not broadcast wifi SSID. &nbsp;I haven't been able to find any information from Roku on infared or not on that model. &nbsp;His model is a variation of the Express that differs from all of mine.<br />
