Exchange user cannot be added to outllok.

Hi Team,
I have Exchange  2013 installed in my Environment.

One of the user is not able to be added in outlook . I am getting the following error.

The action cannot be completed. The name cannot be matched to a name in address list.

Please help me sort this.

This user can connect to OWA.

Ok,

Do they have a mailbox set up? Run

Get-aduser -properties * 

Open in new window


In powershell and see if they have mailbox attributes.

Hi Alex i tried to run the command in Exchange server i got the following

cmdlet Get-ADUser at command pipeline position 1
Supply values for the following parameters:
(Type !? for Help.)
Filter:
Sorry

i have attached the logs. The outlook was working yesterday (same user account configured for almost 2 years)  but the issue happened from today morning.I have added other mailbox user on the outlook and it is working.
OK I've got the details, can you remove that file please. It's got a lot of information that shouldn't be posted on an internet forum.
OK the account looks ok, it's got the Exchange attributes, can you log onto the exchange server, then do

Get-mailbox -identity "Email address of user"

See if it's got the mailbox available still, another thing you can do is use the FQDN of the exchange server. Have any changes been made in the past 24 hours?

I have done windows update and rebooted the server. other than that i haven't done any changes.

I was able to access the mailbox through OWA.  issue is through outlook
Oh it's a local issue then,

You put

This user can cannot to OWA.

In your orignal post, ok, go to the machine, run ipconfig /all

check your settings in there to make sure they are correct, then when you connect outlook put in exchangeserver.domain.

Use the alias to configure outlook.

Delete the existing profile and create a new one.

Check the computer account is ok in Active directory

Check the OU the computer is in

Check you have other network connectivity.

Check you can do \\exchangeserver in your run bar to check that you can get to the exchange.

um.....

ping the exchange,

Check the VLAN the network port is on.

Move the machine from that network port to another one.

Check the account on another machine to see if that can find it.

Hi Alex,

I have tried to configure the user in another Machine. Still showing the same error. I removed the profile an added again still not possible. When i tried to add from Outlook it is creating a dummy .outlook.com account.
But when i tried to add i t through control panel/mail, i get the error.

I have tried other mail user account and i can add it fine. Is there any thing to with Address list.
I wouldn't have thought so, log onto the exchange and check the mailbox, go through your event log and check that too.
What exchange are you running?

I checked this there is no issue. It is not disconnected.
and just to confirm, you're not having any issues connecting other mailboxes are you? I.E if you go to a new machine and add another mailbox on another user, it works?
Yes. I have no issue with other users and adding other users in outlook is also fine.
OK, i'm out of ideas, the mailbox is there, not disabled, linked, you're putting in the correct server and name, you've tried putting in the alias of the mailbox right?

I checked and Alias is there (it was on Upper Case) i changed and still same issue.
I was able to configure the mailbox on mobile (Exchange Active Sync and outlook app)  also without any issue. Only issue is cant add to Windows outlook.
What version is your "Windows outlook"? 2016 or something
My Outlook  version is 2019 and tried on Outlook 2016 also.
OK i'm still out, I was thinking you were using windows mail for a moment then.
i was able to add mailbox in Windows mail app  also.
Issue is with Outlook.
It can't be with outlook since you tried to connect to that mailbox on another machine didn't you, which didn't work.
Please check these.
1.  Address hidden from GAL
Set-Mailbox -Identity username@domain.com -HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled $false

2.  Legacy information in the AD record

Exchange Test connectivity is fine with out any issue.

Any solution ?
I have 2 users that are doing it now. After years of being fine. exchange 2013. client using outlook 2016. I can add them using outlook 2010.

Any solutions? Thanks
