Cannot associate a file to bat file in Windows 10
Hi All. Situation is this. I have a file that needs to be opened by a .bat file. The problem is the file extension is .ZPL and Windows 10 associates that with Groove. I have used PS to remove Groove, but then when I try to associate the file with the bat file in Settings, I cannot! Microsoft will only allow me to select/associate files from its store. I have tried right clicking on the file and telling it to always use my bat file, but it will not save this preference. Does anyone know a what around this w/WIN10? Thanks.

Yes but we have done this in the past fine.
I am not sure why you could have, unless a defect in a past system.
I am looking at my Windows 10 V1809 machine, settings, select app by file type.
If only one possible app, that is all you see.
If multiple apps (like PDF), you see all the options.
If no apps, you see + and the only option is the store.
BAT is never an option.

You can try with Windows Explorer to see if you can associate your extension with a BAT file.
