Hi,

I have Windows server 2008 from VMWare and now is moving in Azure. Before the transfer the Windows was not activated yet. Now how can I active the Windows license from Azure?

Thanks

who owns the license? VMWARE? Your company? How are you activating? KMS? Online Activation?
Have you tried from a command prompt slmgr -ipk <product key> followed by slmgr -ato ? If all else fails use the via phone option

when you upload VM image to Azure as VHD file and going forward create new VM with image, Azure will ask you if you already have server license, select no and Azure will probably license your image upon VM deployment
They charges VM per minute and license cost is included in price

This cmd works: slmgr -ipk <product key> followed by slmgr -ato

We I have to tell Windows to use Azure KMS first instead of on premise. Like:

slmgr /ipk <key>
slmgr /skms kms.core.windows.net
slmgr /ato
