Go to the permissions tab and check that everyone has access to it in the public section.<br />
Also make sure that you have set your bucket for static website hosting in the bucket propreties<br />
Also check that in the VPC ACL there is no explicit rule blocking your machine address to access the S3 instance

@Omar Soudani - have done that. @Michel Sakr - under Permissions/Public access settings All 4 options are marked as False e.g. Manage public access control lists (ACLs). Static web hosting is set to disabled and when when I go into it , I have 3 options: Use this bucket to host a website/Redirect request/Disable website hosting. &nbsp;Which one should I choose? &nbsp;What is the VPC ACL? Can't see anything in my list that corresponds to that acronym? Thanks as always.

Update to both of you - changed the settings to public, made the actual documents public again and that worked..thank you!!
