how does an analog phone is configured to get internal ext using call manager

Hi Experts,

I am able to access the call manager in our organization, I have a phone device and I can see it under Device --> Phone but I want to know how an anolog phone with DID phone number  will connect to call manager using internal extension usually using the last 4 digits as internal ext,

If the product Type Tye says : Analog Phone , does that mean it is a analog phone.

You will need somthing that is call an Analog Gateway having FXS interfaces that will transform the Analoge Phone (having an FXO interface)  to one of the VOIP protocols. You need to get the right Gateway for SIP, H.323, MGCP ...  you need to make contact.
Then the DID number can be transfered to the VOIP platform and the phone get integrated in the VOIP system as one of the extensions.

I am going to make the assumption that you are using Cisco routers with Call Manager.  But I am not entirely sure on the question.  The are we connecting an analog phone to a SIP trunk?  THe analog device connects to the FXO card in the router/gateway.  If you are bringing in a analog pots line from the carrier, that would terminate on an FXS card and get built in CM.  Then it is just a matter of programming CM for call routing.
