New Quick Tab Self Generates

I noticed in Onenote there is always in a certain notebook a A new QUICK NOTE TAB gets created on it's own. I deleted it and then it regenerates itself back again . is there away to stop this from happening? Once again the odd thing it only occurs on one notebook.

Quick notes are for gathering thoughts and ideas without worrying about where they go in OneNote. I don't know any way to turn it off. However, they can be a very useful part of OneNote.

Creating quick notes is usually done by entering CTRL-SHIFT-M on your keyboard. However there are two caveats:
1) Quick notes don't seem to be supported by the Windows 10 version of OneNote
2) Chrome uses that same keyboard shortcut for popping up a quick menu

So... If you don't want the quick notes notebook to be created, use the Windows 10 version of OneNote. If you want to use it but use Chrome for your browser, you will need to change the mapping for that shortcut in Chrome.

(I know this isn't the answer you were hoping for. Sorry.)

Hi Basem,

is there away to stop this from happening?

No.

From my research, Kathy's answer is correct, there is no way to permanently disable Quick Notes in OneNote 2016. Even if you delete the tab in OneNote and then deleted the "Quick Notes.one" file using Windows File Explorer, the file and tab will automatically regenerate with an empty note the next time you exit or launch QuickNotes 2016. Best idea is to just ignore the Quick Notes tab and not use it. It's just the way the utility has been designed, unfortunately.

Once again the odd thing it only occurs on one notebook.

It will always appear in your default notebook, the one which was created when you first started using OneNote, but it will always be there in one of them. I tested this theory out on my own copy of OneNotes 2016 for giggles and couldn't prevent the behaviour no matter what I tried.
