WIndows 10 Application File Backup Solution for a Workgroup Environment
I need a recommendation on a Windows 10 free software or very reasonably priced software that's easy to deploy and will take application backup files and other msc files stored locally on a Windows 10 computer and back them up to the locally NAS. Bonus, it sends an email notification if backup location on NAS breaks. We unfortunately have a few workgroup client environments where low budget solutions will determine they are here today or gone tomorrow as a small business. The most critical backup files in question come from Quickbooks and Abacus.

Critical implies death if lost. That's what insurance is for. Actually, backup *IS* insurance. Get the cheapest and it may not be enough to protect you. Backup stinks. You hate spending money on it, but if the business REQUIRES data to operate, you should have it. Because if you don't, when you get sued, err, hacked or click on a malware link, you want to be sure your insurance, er, backup is going to cover you fully and properly.
And backing up to a NAS? They are gone tomorrow if there's a fire. Flood. etc. You're probably better off with an Online solution so you store it off-site.

Can you customize the email notifications? like weekly reports rather than every day? Does the email feature work on the free version?

No. It emails the log after the profile has run. However, the Pro version (not Free or SE) supports scripting, so you could write a script to do it.
