Can't access IPMI across lan to Dell T620 server
Cannot connect to ipmi on a dell poweredge t620.
IPMI over LAN is enabled.
I can nmap the port and it's listening.
when I try to run a command against it I get the following:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\SysMgt\bmc>ipmi tool.exe -I lanplus -H 192.168.101.4 -U root -P password sdr elist all
Error: Unable to establish IPMI v2 / RMCP+ session
Get Device ID command failed
Unable to open SDR for reading
Funny thing is, I can get this to work:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\SysMgt\bmc>ipmi sh -ip 192.168.101.5 -u root -p password -k 1234512345 sysinfo
DeviceID : 32

Status : No error
SDRVersion : 1.5

is the iDRAC licensed ?
Does ipmitool work if you use lan rather than lanplus interface? Dell don't have much info on specifying the ciphersuite for lanplus and I see you are just using the default.
ASKER
iDRAC has enterprise license.
I've tried "lan" rather than "lanplus"
It feels like I need to somehow pass the encryption key (1234512345) to ipmitool, but can't see an argument to do so.
(it's the -k 1234512345 for the ipmish command)
