Office 365 - Email Archive

Client has been using Office 365 since March 2012. At the time all onprem mailbox data was imported (using Migration Wiz).

Directors have requested that all email data prior to 1st September 2012 is now archived off of the system and held locally (external disk/s) which will be stored by one of the Directors.

I know about using Office 365's Online Archive systems (as per here) as well as retention policies. This is not what they require.

They want all email data prior to that date to not appear anywhere in the system.

Is this fesabile?

The only thing you would change about the above PS is that you would add a -DateTo "01/09/2012" to the line to stop everything from that point being added.

Thanks all for comments.

Client has usd used Message Ops Exchange Migrator tool in the past (mainly for dealing with Leavers). Once MS O365 introduced the offer of converting an old user to Shared Mailbox instead of pure deletion they didnt renew license.

Having  spoken with the sales support, using their PS Scripting tools with version 3.93 of the Exchange Migrator my client will be able to archive all emails from a particular date. Then using, Deletion Retention policies manage to achieve what they need.
