Windows 10 cannot login (spinning circles)

Hi,
I am using Windows 10 Pro 1803 (build 17134.471). My workstation is on a AD domain.
Since few weeks, I am not able anymore to access through RDP.
After credentials, I see spinning circles and nothing happens.
After this, I am unable to access to local console, and I am forced to reboot.
How can I solve this?
Thank you

Hi there,

There have been issues with Windows startup after the 1803 update. however, most of these problems can be resolved easily by logging in through safe mod:
You can try to regain access over your machine by following the steps below:
1. Press and hold down the shift key on your keyboard/keypad and proceed to 'Restart' from the 'Start' menu, while holding the key.
Or
In case, you're not able to get to the 'Desktop' screen, you can get to the safe mode by switching On your machine, and as soon as you see the Windows/ manufacturer's logo, power OFF the machine. You need to repeat this step for 3 times

2. Now your computer would get into the Advanced Recovery Environment .

3. From there, click on Advanced Options Troubleshoot Advanced OptionsStartup SettingsRestart

4. Once the machine restarts, press 4 or 'F4' key to enable 'Safe Mode'Press 4 or if you've an active internet connection, you may enable 'Safe Mode with Networking' by pressing '5' or the 'F5' key. Log in once Windows starts in safe mode .

5. Once the computer restarts in the safe mode, login to it and uninstall any latest program or any program that you don't recall downloading.

6. You can then try to login to normal mode.

7. In case, you're still facing the problem, consider using a 'System Restore' or 'System Image Recovery' option from the 'Advanced option'.

Please let'me know in case you face any issues.

Regards
Hi,

Before you should decide to upgrade Uninstall RDP:

Go to Add/Remove programs - Uninstall KB925876

Then reinstall RDP by:

Click Start --> Right click Computer --> click properties --> click Remote Destop tab --> click Advanced --> Choose Allow It doesn't matter if you have an older version or latest version of RDP installed --> Then choose OK, close all windows and reboot the pc.

RDP should now reinstall upon reboot.

Cheers
"Uninstall KB925876" - sorry, but what makes you think that this update is present on win10? It's from 2007.
RDP is not uninstallable.
Hi,

Hold your horses, we're all here to help.

The reason why I mentioned to uninstall RDP being KB whatever magical number it may or may not be (thank you google!) is because I noticed that Remote Desktop is listed in Apps & Features. Probably in yours too, did you even check? What's the use of being listed there if you cannot uninstall it, just saying.

Cheers
Do a repair installation. Download 1803 setup (or 1809 setup, if you are willing to upgrade) and start it within windows.
I assume you're referring to using the MCT to do the upgrade? If so, how do you select the 1803 build of Windows 10 if not wanting to upgrade?
@Andrew
You would need to download the older setup from here: https://tb.rg-adguard.net/public.php (in case anyone wonders who they are - this site links microsoft download servers, so you will get legitimate files).

@dfke
"Remote Desktop is listed in Apps & Features" - there exists an app for it as well, which some might have installed in addition to what is built-in, but not anyone. The built-in one is not uninstallable.

Thank you. Very useful - bookmarked.
After installing upgrade (Windows10Upgrade9252.exe), all went ok
