need correct .NET 4.1 version for SBS 2011 standard
SBS 2011 standard, tried to reinstall WSUS 3.0 sp2 as it wasn't working.
Had to remove .NET 4.1 as WSUS wouldn't install with it.
WSUS still won't complete, but want to just leave it off, but remote web not working now.
Tried to reinstall .NET 4.0 but no dice.
I believe .NET 4.1 was installed but can't find the installer for Windows Server 2008 R2.
Can anyone point to it?

In Programs and Features, Windows Features (you may need Desktop Experience for this - I am not certain), remove (uncheck) .NET Framework. Close out, restart, and go back and enable .NET Framework. Restart again and do Windows Updates.

I have desktop experience installed, but when I go to programs and features, and turn windows features on or off, it brings up server manager. I see .NET framework 3.5.1 but if I try to remove it says 'you cannot remove .net framework 3.5.1 using the remove role services wizard. Maybe because this is SBS 2011 standard? I used a dism /disable-feature command to remove it. It restarted but I can't remote access it - will removing .net that way break other aspects of server 2008 r2?
Can you add V4 via Add Features?

server is remote - I've lost access to it so I'm guessing removing .net3 caused an issue on restart
ASKER
server booted to system recovery options - going to try to use the dism command to enable the netfx3 feature

so we chose command prompt and I tried issuing the command dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:netfx3 - It gave an error that the online option wasn't applicable. When we restart it takes us to recovery options. Any ideas or I will just contact PSS
You would need to contact your support assistance. .NET changes should not cause a Server to become unbootable.
restore from backup OR maybe even last known good restore point
BTW WSUS does not need .net 3.51 or .net 4.x
Did you try booting from the SBS 2011 repair disk?

what prompted you to remove WSUS and then subsequently reinstall it?
.net 3.51 is needed by sharepoint and many other things related to SBS i.e. exchange, sql server

WSUS wasn't working and in the past PSS had me remove .NET as certain versions of it interfere with the reinstallation of WSUS.
Didn't help in this case. I have an apt with PSS this afternoon
