Device Manager Errors

I get an error message showing that a device driver was not successfully installed every time I boot up my computer.   These messages refer to three networked printers.   I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.   The printers show up and print normally under Devices and Printers, but in Device Manager there are multiple entries indicating they are not installed correctly.

Just install the HP Universal printer driver, that'll ccover it I'm sure.

These 3 printer devices are in the wrong spot in Device Manager. They should be under Printers.  So yes, as noted above, uninstall the devices. Look in Programs and Features and if there are printers there, uninstall them.

Now go to Printer Server Manager (Admin Tools), Drivers Tab and remove any drivers related to these printers.

Now restart and try installing one printer and see (a) if it works and (b) goes into the Printer Devices slot in Device Manager.
Are these multifunction printers that include fax and scanning? If printing is working then I suspect that the other functions are trying to be added and are failing for lack of drivers.  If you don’t care about those functions, go into the device manager and simply disable the extra functions. That should have either a yellow or red icon on them.

If you want those function, then you will need to get the proper software from the printer company.
what printer models are supposedly installed??
if you want to post a screenshot, ust the snipping tool, and post itas jpg or such - much easier for you and us

The printer  models show up in the snipping tool window.
That is probably normal. The printers are not properly installed, so Windows has selected Snipping Tool as the default printer. I think that is what you are saying.

Did you fully uninstall as suggested above and then reinstall the printers?
that is not a snipping tool window, its a docx one, and nearly unreadable
It that is what you are talking about (the DOC attachment), Simon already posted the models earlier.  I had to download the file and blow up the picture).
Thanks. Downloaded it as well, I see that now.

As has already been suggested, you need to install the software needed for each printer.
You can got to HP’s support page, put in the name of the printer, and it should find you the necessary drivers and downloads to use each printer.

Alex,  I was not aware of a Universal printer driver from HP, I have always just installed the software for each printer,  I need to check that out.
Hi, John:

I will follow your recommendation:

I will do this at the weekend and post the results.
Thanks and please keep us posted.
Hi, John:

I installed a new switch, patch panel and router over the weekend and ended up with a meltdown, with various printers and credit card processing services not working.   As soon as the dust settles, I will follow your recommendations and post the results.
