MS Outlook inbox fails to display unread emails from my Gmail account.

Microsoft Office 2019 Outlook

I am using MS Outlook to connect to my Gmail account.
The issue is that Outlook inbox does not update from my Gmail inbox when I open it. Even if I click the button Send / Receive outlook does not pull the emails in from Gmail.

I can open and check Gmail and see the unread emails are there in the inbox that should have come across to Outlook inbox.

If I send a email from Outlook to my Gmail account I see the email in the Gmail inbox but it does not update and display in the outlook inbox  and show it to me.

I have tried the File + Repair in the Outlook side but it still won't retrieve the Gmail inbox emails that have not been opened

Sometimes after the outlook inbox has stayed on the screen for a period of 15 to 30 minutes it may update the Outlook Inbox from the Gmail inbox.

Even If I close the Gmail account and leave the Outlook account open the update does not occur.

Any assistance with this issue will be greatly appreciated.

It is only the unread emails that eventually show up Hours later.
I am connecting to Gmail using IMAP. I did not think you can get your email from Gmail using POP.
Send and receive does complete successfully each time. It just does not bring back emails.
I do not have Google App Sync installed. I will check out this link you provided.
Ibrahim Benna,
Please Advise,

Will GSSMO work with Outlook 2019 ?  I only see requirements listed in the link above for MS Outlook 2016, 2013, 2010, 2007 & 2003.

You have to grant access in Google to allow applications (Outlook) to sync. As Ibrahim Benna mentioned use GSuite. I've setup Outlook many times to GMail and it's always had glitchy issues and thought it would get better with each new version of Outlook. Save yourself the grief and just use GSuite.

1. It's free
2. it's solid, doesn't have any issues
3. Has a great migration tool (note: give yourself some time to let the migration tool run, I usually allow it to run over night).
4. Reports errors if any are encountered and saves them in the sync folder - makes troubleshooting easy
5. Shows you how to grant permissions in Google.

Yes

About synchronizing G Suite with Outlook
Also known as GSSMO
GSSMO used to be known as Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook (GASMO).

If your organization has switched to Google Accounts but you'd like to keep using Microsoft® Outlook®, you can use G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook (GSSMO) to synchronize your mail, calendar events, contacts, notes, and tasks between your new account and Outlook.

You can access the synchronized information (Gmail and other G Suite tools, such as Google Drive) on any device where you use your Google Account. You’ll open Outlook just like you’re used to.
