What is the difference between data copies and audio copies in Roxio

In programs such as Roxio that are designed to create and copy information to cd and dvd media....Why is there a separate "copy type" between data copies and music copies? I wonder why I cannot simply copy a group of MP3 files from my desktop computer to a dvd using data copy instead of the special AUDIO copy.
