Hi All

Hope someone can help me. I have a server running with Hyper-V Server 2012 with a Windows VM running on it.

I need to be able to redirect the physical COM port of the server to my VM.

How does one go about doing that?

I suggest to use a device that redirect serial connection over ethernet, often I used Moxa NPort device in VM

Also consider that the generation 2 VMs do not support COM ports, for this reason the use of a device that makes the redirection on Ethernet is preferable in addition to the fact that in this way the connection would be available even if the VM is made a Live Migration and then the VM is moved to another Hyper-V host

We've used USB to Serial converters that in turn get redirected into the VM using Fabulatech's USB over Ethernet product.

ATEN makes a good USB to Serial adapter that we've used to program anything from Intel Modular Servers through to Cisco switches.
