is it possible to have a voice-activated remote control with my current AT&T cable setup?

Hello and Good Evening Everyone,

I am wondering if it is possible to purchase a 3rd party piece of hardware, like a special remote control, which is voice activated to manipulate basic cable tv functions like adjusting volume, changing channels, carrying out searches for specific television shows and movies, etc.  I did contact my cable provider, AT&T, and found out that they do not have a voice-activated remote control.  That said, is there any other options to consider here or am I at a dead end?

        Thank you.

I suggest looking at the devices here. They should work, but you need to ask ATT Support

Hi George

The inVoca suggested by John may very well be compatible with AT&T and the model number is LYSB00008VEKE-ELECTRNCS.

If ATT&T support does confirm that, here is another iVoca model, new and sealed, on Ebay.

Just send the seller an inquiry and they can tell you the model number to know if it matches the one on Amazon.

They are a trusted seller and should be happy to answer any question about the item.

Hello and Good Afternoon John and Nick,

Thank you for answering my question with your suggested links.  While the recommended links certainly took me to the inquired device, I am afraid the overall reviews that are given by Amazon customers for the voice-activated remotes for television sets, DVD players, cable boxes, etc. are low.   That said, I will abandon the idea of purchasing a voice-activated remote at this time.   If improvements are made upon these devices in addition to forthcoming higher customer ratings, I will likely purchase one in the future.
