I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Is this windows or appliance ?  Embedded linked mode is supported on appliance only after 6.5 update 2, Is your vCenter is on 6.5 update 2 ?

You can go with 6.7 VSphere for embedded setup. Though 6.5 U2 support, I would not recommend for now as the conditions come with limitations in 6.5 U2.

Essentials does not support Link Mode. Enhanced Link Mode (ELM) is a function in vCenter Standard.

Essentials is a starter basic version of vSphere.

Sorry forgot to mention this is a Windows install and not an appliance.

Ok only way is to upgrade the license, and once upgraded, is the configuration done within vShpere?

You need to plan your vCenters and re-install. Instructions have been posted in the first post.

There is NO Upgrade path, you will have to purchase vCenter Standard, and ESXi Standard for all your hosts.
