On a Windows 10 Pro laptop, 64bit, when entering something in the search at the bottom left, results in nothing, it's blank.. whether one is connected to the internet or not.
Any suggestions?

Open Control Panel, Indexing Options and make sure Indexing Locations reflect USERS, Outlook, and other folders you need.

Should you wish to add other folders, do that.

Then in Advanced Options, click on Rebuild Index.  This will run for a long while (perhaps let it run overnight).

Then test search again.

Also open Windows Explorer.  Navigate to an appropriate folder.  See the search bar top right. Enter something and search. Does it now work?
Hi,

maybe it could also be a Cortana issue.

You can re-register by opening an admin PowerShell prompt and enter:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Open in new window

Let it finish, close the shell and reboot.

I am quite happy with Windows Search. It works all the time and does what I need. If a third party tool fits you (100q) better, try it out.

Agree with dfke about it being a possible Cortana issue. I recall another similar question where the OP stated the problem was fixed by resetting Cortana.

Could also have to do with the Swapfile.sys file

First I've ever heard of that utility. Looks like a neat little tool - will definitely try it out here too as I frequently find Windows search to be lacking myself :)
